    La Guillotine Restaurant

Established in 1967 just a few metres away from its present location at 518 Kent Street. Originally a French omelette house, La Guillotine has become a Sydney icon known for its Parisian style and traditional French food. Still as intimate but now with two floors. The restaurant owners, Joseph, in his seventeenth year at La Guillotine and his wife Sharon have kept the old restaurant alive with red walls throughout and arches and iron bars in the basement. The ground floor looks down onto Kent Street and can be opened up to take in the warm Sydney nights and street life. The menus are in both French and English and include French favourites such as moules marinere, escargot, chateaubriand bearnaise and of course the omelettes. A wonderful Parisian atmosphere that can be 'oh so romantic', but great for party/ group bookings too.

French Restaurant of the Month

Marque Restaurant
Marque Restaurant, 5/355 Crown Street, Surry Hills, New South Wales, Australia

“….a Best menu is almost inevitably new territory. You will not eat food like this, encounter such ideas on the plate, elsewhere. Originality abounds alongside a healthy interest in – and yet at the same time healthy disdain for – the tricks of the new wave. Give it Frenchish wings and watch it fly. A restaurant all about food”

“Few Chefs approach flavour with such passion and dedication. It’s impossible not to be impressed when food is this well crafted, possibly the best food in Australia!”
